Artists designing the Mediterranean

 

On the occasion of the second edition of the Young Mediterranean Leaders Forum, the YML joined efforts with the Fundacion Tres Culturas, based in Seville.
The YML and the Foundation asked three artists to create a fresco symbolizing the Mediterranean and its diversity. The artists who participated in the creation of the piece are Rinat Izhak (Israel), Aziz Salama (Morocco) and Alejandro López (Spain). The painting, which was made in parallel the Forum’s working sessions, were disclosed during the closing lunch at the Hotel Alfonso XIII.
The Foundation of the Three Cultures has been promoting for the last ten years, the encounter between people and cultures of the Mediterranean (3 cultures, 23 territories, but only one region: the Mediterranean). This institution based on principles of peace, dialogue and tolerance, is presided amongst others, by Mr. Andre Azoulay.

La Fondation des trois Cultures a pour mission, depuis 10 ans, de promouvoir la rencontre entre les peuples et les cultures de la Méditerranée (3 cultures, 23 territoires, mais une seule région : la Méditerranée). L’initiative de cette fresque, qui a mêlé le travail artistique des peintres en parallèle aux contributions intellectuelles des participants du Forum témoigne de l’ambition affichée du YML de s’étendre plus largement aux sphères culturelles.
Le Forum 2009 a notamment mis l’accent sur les métiers du cinéma en invitant des réalisateurs et producteurs tels que Nabil Ayouch, Noureddine Lakhmari, Souad El Bouhati, ou encore mais aussi la Présidente du CNC, Madame Véronique Cayla.
Cette transversalité nous semble aujourd’hui absolument nécessaire à la mission première du YML : le rapprochement des deux rives.
